The combination of manifold fuel injection and direct injection combines improved power delivery with low fuel consumption and lowered emissions. On average, it consumes 11.7 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres (277g of CO2 per kilometre).

The power of the 10-cylinder suction engine is not only noticeable - the distinctive engine sound makes every journey unique. The double-flow exhaust system with its trapezoidal tailpipes ensures this. The sound backdrop of the V10 becomes more and more voluminous and stirring as the speed increases.

The quattro drive train

quattro stands for excellent traction, enhanced driving dynamics and increased driving safety. Hardly any other drive brings the power of the engine to the road so confidently. Behind the powerful V10 sits a quick-as-lightning, electrically controlled seven-speed S tronic. It directs the power to the newly designed quattro drive. The electronically controlled and hydraulically actuated multi-plate clutch at the front and a mechanical limited slip differential on the rear axle allow a controllable and sporty driving behaviour combined with excellent traction. The drive torque can be distributed variably between the front and rear axles as necessary.

Depending on the weather and road situation, the all-wheel drive can additionally be modified with Audi drive select. In the four modes comfort, auto, dynamic and individual, the R8 Spyder V10 displays its different character traits: from everyday companion to a confident turning assistant on mountain roads. Even more versatile is the handling in the optional Performance mode. With the three driving modes dry, wet and snow, you can tailor the driving characteristics to specific driving conditions.

The chassis

The sports suspension in the R8 Spyder V10 allows a sporty and confident driving behaviour. As front and rear suspension, a double wishbone suspension is used - freedom of kinematics, a high-precision wheel guidance and excellent agility are the result. Motorsport genes are identifiable. The electromechanical power steering mediates narrow road contact using its finely differentiated feedback. Alternatively, you can select dynamic steering. You change the transmission function according to the speed and this simultaneously adjusts the steering torque accordingly.
