Goodwood – far more than just a hillclimb

The “Festival of Speed” in Goodwood lays claim to be the largest and most varied motorsport event held anywhere in the world. Certainly there is scarcely any other motorsport meeting at which so many different kinds of cars come together with so many famous drivers. From July 7 to 9, 2006, everything that automobile history has to offer will be on the move or on display here in a beautiful setting: the park belonging to the Earl of March. Audi Tradition has a star-studded entry at this year’s “Festival of Speed”. No fewer than three Auto Union racing cars will be shipped to England for the event: a Type C and an “old” and a “new” Type D. As a climax, an Audi 200 quattro Trans Am will also be seen in action.

None of these racing cars has survived as an original. In the 1970s R. v. Eberan-Eberhorst, the Auto Union racing-department engineer and designer of the 3-litre car, played a major part in restoring it.
