An Audi A8 is playing a starring role in the new Hollywood action film “The Transporter 2”, which is scheduled to appear in German cinemas on 1 September 2005.

The A8 with twelve-cylinder engine is driven by the leading character Frank Martin, a former operative played by the British actor Jason Statham. As the film director, Louis Leterrier, is a great Audi fan, his team made contact with Audi in the summer of 2004. The A8 will be seen performing numerous stunts in the film. An A3 Sportback, driven by the leading actress Amber Valetta, also appears in the action movie. Cinema-goers will be able to admire the two models on the screen for a total of 26 minutes. Audi models have already featured in a considerable number of films. For example, Tom Cruise could be seen driving an Audi TT Roadster in “Mission Impossible 2”, while Hugh Grant’s vehicle in “About a Boy” was a TT Coupé. Last year Audi even developed a special film car called the RSQ which Will Smith drove through the futuristic set of the blockbuster “I, Robot”.
