In an interview with the "Tagesspiegel", Audi Chairman Dr. Martin Winterkorn revealed his plans to make Audi the leading premium brand worldwide by the year 2010. Winterkorn intends to launch further new premium models on the market.
He also intends to optimise dealerships and the service area, to extend the sales network abroad and to invest heavily in the worldwide identity of the brand. Audi products can already today match the competition in terms of design, quality and sophistication. Winterkorn is confident that the brand will be able to double sales on the US market over the next four years. He intends to sell 85,000 cars in the USA this year, which, despite the difficult situation on the US market, is more than in the previous year. Winterkorn is confident that this will be achieved, although Audi doesn’t offer as many discounts as many competitors do. According to Winterkorn, Audi products can already stand up to the competition in terms of design, quality and sophistication. Indeed, in many cases they are the benchmark.
