In an interview with the magazine “Bestseller” Dr. Winterkorn stated that Audi aims to be the brand with the most satisfied customers. Consumers should associate the Audi brand with sportiness, sophistication, high-quality, reliability and superb design.
Audi is already uncontested on the market for the best build quality; in the meantime, even Japanese car manufacturers have confirmed that Audi is “top of the line” as regards aesthetics, design and craftsmanship. According to Winterkorn, this decade will see Audi breaking the barrier of selling one million cars annually. In order to achieve its goal the car manufacturer is active on three levels. The core focus is on new products. Secondly, Audi intends to tap new markets. In addition, existing markets are to be penetrated more effectively, especially in Asia and the USA. The brand has already taken the lead in many aspects. As an example, Winterkorn mentioned sales of the eight and twelve-cylinder models in Western Europe. Audi is clearly way ahead of BMW and Mercedes in this area.
