Audi triumphs at Oschersleben as well
DTM: Second race, second triumph: the new Audi A4 DTM could not be beaten in its second race either. One week after the 1-2-3 exploit at Hockenheim, Timo Scheider and Martin Tomczyk clinched a commanding 1-2 victory for Audi at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. By claiming the maiden victory of his DTM career, Scheider has taken the overall lead as well. Audi Sport Team Rosberg was another team which had a reason to rejoice: Markus Winkelhock in sixth place was the best driver of a car from last year and scored his first DTM points. His team colleague Mike Rockenfeller scored a points finish as well, in seventh place. Mattias Ekström scored a point despite the rear of his car was badly damaged at the start.
1-2 finish for Audi R10 TDI in 25th race
ALMS: In its 25th race, the Audi R10 TDI scored a historic 1-2 victory in the third round of the American Le Mans Series in Long Beach. After the success in St Petersburg a fortnight ago, the diesel-powered sportscar won a street race for the second time in a row. With Lucas Luhr/Marco Werner taking their personal as well as Audi’s second win in three races in 2008, the German "factory" drivers extended their lead in the championship standings.
Start-finish victory for Audi in Italy
Superstars: The season opener of the Italian Superstars Touring Car Series at Vallelunga was another event at which Audi was successful this weekend: with a dominating start-finish victory at the wheel of his Audi RS 4 fielded by Audi Sport Italia, title defender Gianni Morbidelli made a perfect start to the new season. After suffering a tyre puncture, his team-mate Giorgio Sanna finished in tenth place.
Simon Reinberth clinches maiden podium
JTCC: Good start for Simon Reinberth at the season opener of the Swedish Junior Touring Car Championship at Knutstorp. The youngster, who is supported by DTM Champion Mattias Ekström, finished his début race with his Audi A3 in third place. The second session saw the 17-year-old Swede finish in 19th position after a time penalty.
