Audi defends DTM lead

DTM: At the DTM’s Italian round, Audi defended its overall lead. Although scoring no points at Mugello after a jump start, Audi driver Timo Scheider continues heading the leaderboard. Tom Kristensen clinched third place for Audi in an action-packed race. A total of five A4 DTM cars finished in the top eight, and thus in the points. Youngster Oliver Jarvis scored the first points of his young DTM career finishing fifth.

Successful 30-hour test of the Audi R10 TDI

Le Mans: Audi Sport Team Joest, as part of the preparations for the 24-Hour Race at Le Mans, successfully completed a 30-hour endurance test at Le Castellet (France). The Audi R10 TDI ran without any noteworthy technical problems. All nine Audi factory drivers scheduled to race at Le Mans on 14/15 June took turns at the wheel of the diesel sports car. Audi contests the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the tenth time this year.

Gianni Morbidelli on podium at Mugello again

Superstars: After his victory at the season opener at Vallelunga Gianni Morbidelli clinched a podium result at the second round of the Italian Superstars Touring Car Series as well. At the round staged as part of the DTM race at Mugello, the Italian in his Audi RS 4 missed victory merely by 0.598 seconds. Team-mate Giorgio Sanna was leading up to nearly the end of the race but had to reduce his speed due to a damaged oil cooler and was retroactively moved from third to fifth place because of a collision.

Simon Reinberth scores further points

JTCC: On the second weekend of the Swedish Junior Touring Car Championship at Sturup, Simon Reinberth scored further championship points. The youngster, who is supported by DTM Champion Mattias Ekström, in his Audi A3 came tenth in the first race and seventh in the second, thus finishing in the points. The 17-year-old Swede drove the fastest race lap as well. Reinberth is now in ninth position of the championship.
