17 days full of highlights

For 17 days, Bormio in Italy was the focus of the alpine skiing world. One of the highlights of Audi’s appearance at the 29th World Championships was the starting gate designed by Audi. Away from the slopes, the “Studio 25 quattro” provided a lively atmosphere for après-ski enthusiasts. Transport requirements were also covered, with a total of 40 Audi A8 and A6 cars providing a shuttle service for VIP guests.

World championship courses

“Stelvio” – the men’s world championship course:
Measuring about three and a half kilometres in length, with a vertical drop of over 1,000 metres and an average gradient of more than 30 percent, the downhill run in Bormio is one of the fastest and most demanding courses on the World Cup circuit. Full of spectacular descents and technically challenging sections, the annual downhill on the "Stelvio" in Bormio is one of the classic World Cup races.

“Deborah Compagnoni” – the women’s world championship course:
Named after triple Olympic champion Deborah Compagnoni, this run was tested for the first time in the World Cup in January 2005. Technically demanding bends, a start located at an altitude of over 2,500 metres and sections on which skiers reach speeds of up to 140 km/h make this one of the greatest challenges in the alpine skiing calendar.

Alpine allure

The Alpine World Ski Championships in Bormio (Italy) produced a series of sporting highlights from 28 January to 13 February 2005. Audi once again acted as presenting sponsor in Bormio, as it did at the world championships the time before last in St. Moritz, securing the highest possible profile at the event.
