Audi achieved the first podium result for the new A4 DTM at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz. In front of a crowd of 78,000 spectators, Tom Kristensen shone in the race fighting his way through the field from seventh position on the grid to second at the finish.
Mattias Ekström came home fourth despite his Audi A4 DTM being badly damaged in an early collision. Additionally, a drive-through penalty was imposed on the reigning DTM Champion. Audi´s "used cars” were also fast again: Pierre Kaffer and Frank Stippler finished fifth and sixth recording the best results for last year’s cars. In the DTM standings, Mattias Ekström moved to third place.
