You can open and close your Audi A6 from any door or the tailgate using the "advanced key" function. Your key is identified by way of a proximity sensor and a radio-frequency pulse sender. As soon as you get within about 1.5 metres of your vehicle, the doors and tailgate are unlocked and ready to be opened.
The steering and ignition can also be released in this way. Provided the driver has the key on his person while inside the car, the steering is released by lightly pressing the starter button on the centre console. At the same time the ignition is activated and the electronic immobiliser released. You can start the engine. With the Stop button the engine is shut off again.
When exiting from the vehicle all you have to do is activate the small locking button under the exterior door handle of the driver's door. The central locking then closes automatically once you and your key are outside the vehicle.
